Alumnae Prepare for Grand Homecoming

Last August 18, 2008, ten alumnae met at McDonald’s Greenhills Branch, Makati City not only for up-dating one another but to discuss a grand alumnae homecoming on December 29, 2008 in Naga City.

Organized by Manila-based Myrna de la Cruz-Paguia and Naga-based Jean N. Llorin, Coll ’62, the following happily responded to join the consultation-meeting.

Sonia, S. Mendoza, Estrella A. Gamo, Carmela B. Villasenor, Pat M. Maravillas,Lydia P. Olano, Elvira P. Siongco, Teresita R. Pabico, Corazon R. Dumagang

The meeting was graced by three alumni – Sofronio Llorin HS’58, Vicente Gamo, HS 56, and Toots de la Torre HS 71.

In the small gathering, Jean talked about the growing number of alumni and the “little homecomings” organized by different batches and held at different times during the year. In these batch gatherings, alumni are able to keep in touch with each other, and decide on class projects like medical missions, scholarship grants, and relief operations in distressed communities.

The Grand Homecoming happens on December 30th when the Silver and Golden Jubilarians are featured.

She also presented two documents for reading and information – MISSION IN BIKOL, the late Fr. Raul Bonoan’s Inaugural Address (1999) as first President of the Ateneo de Naga University and PRIMUM REGNUM DEI, the Installation Address of Fr. Joel E. Tabora, SJ, current President.  She feels that it is important for alumni to deepen our understanding of the mission of the University and strengthen the link between the Alumni Association and our Alma Mater.

Jean informed the group that the AdeNAA Board under the leadership of Charlie Villasenor, HS 82, past president, ended their term with a Strategic Plan for the development of the growing association.  It is in this light that Grand Homecoming for Alumnae be held to organize the more than seven thousand women graduates of the Ateneo de Naga.

The group agreed to make the Manila Chapter’s Office more functional and attempt to publish an up-dated an alumni directory.
