Dear Fellow Ateneans and Friends:
I am Anna N. Bayrante- Langcauon, a graduate of Ateneo de Naga University Bachelor of Science in Accountancy Batch 1998. I am presently a staff in the Principal’s Office of Ateneo at the High School Pacol Campus. I gave birth to a premature baby girl last November 16, 2007 at the Mother Seton Hospital. I was admitted November 10 for medication because of the leaking of my amniotic fluid, spotting and bleeding. On November 16, I had my early delivery though I was only six months pregnant.
In God’s miracle the baby was born alive, a 652-gram baby girl. She suffered from Respiratory Distress Syndrome and from minor infection due to my early delivery. She needed to be incubated for three months to gain the necessary weight and to complete the nine months cycle of a baby. Last April 3 she weighed 2800grams. She was discharged from Mother Seton Hospital last March 29, 2008.
The income that my husband and I are earning is just enough for our daily needs. We have exhausted all our possible resources just to sustain Baby Kate’s daily maintenance for medicine, vitamins, etc. We are very grateful for Ateneo de Naga University for the help it has extended. But our financial needs have become overwhelmingly large for us to sustain what we still need. Our problem is the remaining balance of our hospital bill amounting to P109, 621.77 and the cost that we will need for our baby’s check-up. The hospital gave us until July, 2008 to at least partially settle the hospital bill.
According to Dr. Rosalita Almonte-Prado the baby needs to be brought to Manila for a thorough or general check-up. There will be a series of tests to evaluate her development. The test can only be done at Dra. Avendanio’s Medical Clinic in Manila. It will more or less cost P1500-P2000 per session.
In this regard, we would like to ask any financial assistance that you can extend to us. You can reach us through the numbers below.
We want our little angel to live.
Please help her live. Please open your heart to Baby Kate’s (Kyla Therese) call for help! May God Bless you for your generous heart.
Sincerely yours,
Anna N. Bayrante-Langcauon

APPEALS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
To be teachers, nurses, engineers, C.P.A.’s, these are but some of the professions that most of our Bikolano youth aspire for. Yet, for some, such worthy aspirations are so hard to reach due to harsh economic realities. They may have the talents, the brains and the will to study and gain good quality education, yet are financially unable to do so. It would be so sad to let these talents and potentials go to waste simply because they are financially strapped.
As ateneans, you were given the chance to enjoy good quality education. Now, you have an opportunity to give the same chance to someone else, a chance to enjoy the benefits and the experience of being an “atenean”. You can help us realize the dreams and aspirations of some of our poor but deserving Bikolano youths. Support our scholarship programs and be a “Golden knight” or one of the “Four Pillars” Sponsors. Together, let us mold the future teachers, nurses, engineers and professionals of Bikol.
The following are appeals from some of our provisional scholars. “Provisional” means that they still do not have their respective benefactors. They are still waiting for “YOU” to make their future here in the Ateneo certain. Please open your hearts to their call for help.
APPEALS FROM SCHOLARS
 |
Neil Erich P. Galicia - 4 BS CE |
| Today, Neil does not set a limit to where or how far his wings are going to take him. With the principle of "balance" in mind, he intends to continue to develop his potential in various fields, although he maintains that he has already reached self-fulfillment. |
 |
Kristine Anne A. Abiog - 3 BSBA M |
| While Tin-Tin's father has dedicated most of his adult life to the Music Ministry of Couples for Christ, her mother teaches at a small Catholic private school where Tin-Tin's two youngest siblings are able to avail of a 50% discount on tuition. The remaining 50%, however, has to be deducted from their mother's salary. |
 |
Christy A. Antonio - 3 BSE |
| Given a choice between working here or abroad, she would rather work here. This is what is amazing about Chris. After she graduates, Chris plans to go back to her high school Alma Mater to teach. |

APPEAL FROM AN ALUMNUS
Mr. Paolo Cezar Garcia, an alumnus of Ateneo de Naga HS’1995, appeals to the hearts of his fellow ateneans in behalf of his 11-month old baby girl, Ma. Beatriz. Baby Beatriz has “Biliary Atresia”. This is a rare liver disease wherein the liver does not have bile ducts. This condition will result in the deterioration and eventual failure of the liver. Only a liver transplant will allow baby Beatriz to survive and to live a normal life.
A liver transplant can only be done at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Kaohsuing, Taiwan. This will cost P4 million, an amount that Baby Beatriz’s parents cannot shoulder alone. Any help from you will support the Garcias in maintaining Baby Beatriz’s health as she awaits a liver transplant and this will also help fund the transplant itself.
Please open your hearts to Baby Ma. Beatriz’s call for help!

I was born on May 29, 2004 with biliary atresia, a rare liver disease
wherein my liver does not have bile ducts.
As a result, the bile builds up within, and is destroying, my liver.
I will soon die, unless I get a liver transplant.
A liver transplant in Taiwan costs P4million.
My parents, Paolo Garcia and Irma Maglambayan, can’t afford this
amount.
That’s why I appeal to your charity and compassion.
Please help me raise money for my liver transplant. Any amount you can
contribute will help to ensure my survival.
